Overview
New security standards require that we enforce Password Age and Complexity. Right now we are looking at a five stage roll out process.
- Stage 1: Notifying everyone and allowing people to voluntarily change the password
- Stage 2: Manually expiring the oldest passwords (approximately 1/4th of users)
- Stage 3-5: Manually moving up and expiring the next groups of passwords that remain until we meet the requirement
Changing your Password
- Navigate to admin.cs.vt.edu
- Log in with either your CS account or VT account
- Hover over the My Account Tab and select Password from the dropdown
- On this page you should see that you are logged in, and two boxes to fill in your new password
- Fill in your new password twice and click reset password
- If everything worked you should see a page that says updating password...success
- If it didn't succeed go back and check the complexity rules and try submitting the new password again
