Adding/Removing email addresses to your personal blacklist

Introduction

With the latest version of our spam fighting software you can create your own personal blacklist of email addresses. All email from addresses on this list will not be delivered to you.

Important Note

In order to use this method you need your outgoing email server to be set to the authenticated server at smtp.cs.vt.edu so the system knows who you are. See Howto::CSThunderbird to find out how to set up authenticated outgoing email. Alternately, you can use the webmail system at https://webmail.cs.vt.edu to do these updates.

Adding an address

You can easily add addresses to your personal blacklist using email. Just compose a new email to blacklist@cs.vt.edu with any subject line. In the body of the email add the addresses, one per line, you want to add to your black list. You can put in the full email address or use one of the following wildcard formats:

  •  *@sender_domain
  •  *@*sender_domain
  •  *@*.sender_domain

Removing an address

Removing an address from your blacklist is just like adding it except send your updates to blacklistremove@cs.vt.edu instead.

Generate a report

You can generate a report to see what addresses are in your personal blacklist. Just compose a new email to blacklist@cs.vt.edu with any subject line. In the body of the email put reportpersblack@assp.net
